Ava DuVernay and Autumn Riley

Ava DuVernay is a Californian born in Long Beach on 24 August 1972. DuVernay was inspired to follow her passion of art by DuVernay's aunt Denise at the age of a small child. She was a night nurse to allow her mother the time she needed during the day for the love of literature, art and theatre. DuVernay instantly was captivated after showing her the 1959 West Side Story film. DuVernay saw how art was an effective tool for promoting social activism. DuVernay was taught to be socially mindful by her mother. DuVernay was brought up in Compton by her parents, but spent the summers with Lowndes County Alabama. This is the place where her father's family has lived for many generations. Her father was a witness to the historic march of Civil Rights Movement across the Edmund Pettus Bridge. It was in Selma Alabama, a neighboring city. The time spent in Selma, Alabama during the summer, would later inspire her to direct a movie about the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his Civil Rights Movement. DuVernay graduated from Saint Joseph High School Lakewood California in the year 1990. DuVernay went to the University of California Los Angeles upon graduation. There she received qualifications in English and African American Studies. DuVernay developed an interest in the field of broadcast journalism while a student. DuVernay began her career as an intern with CBS News during the O.J. Simpson trial. DuVernay was able to recall being assigned the task of watching the home and looking through the trash of one of members of the jury. The duties she was required to complete left her unhappy which is why, when she decided not to pursue a career in the field of journalism, she was able to move to the world of publicity. DuVernay started her first job as a publicist in an unassuming production studio straight out of school. The year 1999 was the time she established her own firm that specialized in public relations, The DuVernay Agency. In addition, she launched several lifestyle and promotional networks, including Urban Beauty Collective. Urban Eye, HelloBeautiful, and Urban Thought Collective. Autumn Riley.............................Autumn Riley was born in Los Angeles United States. Autumn Riley is born with the birth sign of. She is an actress, most well-known for American Experience (1987) and A More Perfect Union (2009). Autumn was Rose in A More Perfect Union as well as Anna Payne from American Experience.
