Amy Carlson

Amy Carlson was raised in Glen Ellyn (Illinois) and spent her entire childhood living in Chicago. However, at the time Amy was in junior high, she and her family also lived in the Middle East where her parents, Bob and Barb, taught at the American School. Amy is the mother of two sisters: Betsy and Lori, as well as a brother Joe. Amy has traveled all over Europe both on her own and with her family. They were both teachers and could travel and camp together each summer because of this. They've camped in every state, except Alaska. Amy was also in Rwanda following the war in 1994 to assist in relief efforts. From the beginning, Amy showed artistic talent performing in school productions, and winning contests for writing. She was a promising athlete in high school and participated in the very first 3200 meter relay in Illinois girls track. In college, after an injury, she returned the stage with a variety of roles on stage beginning with Lanford Wilson's "Fifth of July" and directing Wallace Shawn's "Aunt Dan and Lemon". Amy was a Knox College student from Galesburg, Illinois. She graduated with an B.A. in East Asian history and a concentration in Theater. After graduating, she moved to Chicago and pursued a degree in Improv at The Improv Olympic. She also took acting classes at The Actor's Center. Soon after graduating, she was offered a permanent on the soap series Another World (1964). In the category of "Outstanding support actress on an Daytime Drama Series", she was nominated for Daytime Emmy Awards. The most memorable of her roles were of strong women in the roles of Alex Taylor in Third Watch (1999), Maggie Pistone in Falcone (2000), Katie Owen alongside Tom Berenger in Peacemakers (2003) and Linda Reagan in Blue Bloods. Carlson currently lives in New York City together with Syd Butler (bassist of Les Savy Fav), and where she is also part-owner of Frenchkiss Records. Amy is still working on films and write.
